Dancing in the Rain: Hannah & Kyle’s Rocky Mountain National Park Shoot
Some sessions you plan for weeks, checking the forecast, hoping for golden light and glowing skies. And then there are sessions like Hannah and Kyle’s—where the sky opened up and the rain poured down—and it turned out more magical than I ever could have imagined.
When we arrived at Rocky Mountain National Park, the clouds were already rolling in. Most couples would have been nervous about the weather, but not Hannah and Kyle. They laughed, and braved the rain. That spirit of joy and spontaneity carried through the entire shoot, and it’s exactly what made these photos so special.
Instead of shying away from the storm, they leaned into it—dancing, running, and stealing kisses under the downpour. The misty mountains in the background created a dreamy, cinematic feel that no amount of planning could replicate. It was raw, real, and so beautifully them.
My favorite moment came when they stopped in the middle of a field, closed their eyes, and simply embraced as the rain soaked through. It was the kind of quiet, intimate moment that speaks louder than posed perfection ever could. Those are the images that tell the true story—the kind you’ll feel every time you look back at them.
Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. The weather may not have given us sunshine, but what we captured was even better: a love story that shines no matter the storm. Hannah and Kyle proved that sometimes the best photos happen when you let go of expectations, embrace the unexpected, and just live fully in the moment.
